5 out of 5 stars Outstanding Unit   February 24, 2010
David S. Shearer (Lancaster, NH)
The picture quality is quite sharp and colors are brilliant on this TV.

The unit was easy to set-up upon arrival: just screw in some bolts to attach the stand to the TV. The stand seems to be sturdy.

This unit includes several different types of inputs, including: RCA, three HDMI, component, PC, coax. All of the inputs mean that it is easy to plug several different things into it and not have to keep unplugging to do something different. We currently have a Wii, upconverting DVD player, a computer, standard cable, and a Nintendo 64 plugged into it.

Anyone with a widescreen knows the annoyances with trying to watch TV signal in 4:3 format on your 16:9 TV. This TV has input setting called "S. Stretch" that fills up your TV with the 4:3 without stretching the signal out too far or cutting off the top and/or bottom of the signal. Something that is not always handled as well on other widescreen TVs.

I also like the remote that comes with the unit. It quickly become quite intuitive for me and included a couple of good features. For instance, you can "freeze" the image on the screen (it doesn't pause TV like a DVR, but is more like taking a snapshot of what's on your screen while the live feed continues on) - not a "must have" feature, but kind of fun to use when you want to debate whether or not the football player was in or out-of-bounds or to read the note Chuck Lorre always puts up at the end of "The Big Bang Theory." Also, the remote has 4 color-coded buttons where you can set your favorite channels (up to 4 on each button) for the ability to quickly scroll through the channels you watch most.

Overall, I'm a proud owner of this TV and would recommend it.

5 out of 5 stars Great TV   February 7, 2010

After doing some research on 32in TVs, I was deciding between getting a Sharp, Panasonic or Sony television (I trust Japanese brands b/c of quality and reliability). I came across this television for $320 brand new and could not resist because of the pricing and Aquo's strong reputation. I was skeptical before I ordered but is amazed by this TV upon receiving it. People complain about the picture quality because the calibration for this is pretty difficult. But after taking some time to adjust and tune the television (temp setting on mid-low, contrast 35, tint 8, etc...), the picture is pretty accurate and has deep blacks. For the price I paid for this television, I would say I got an AMAZING deal and I recommend this TV for entry level homes.

1 out of 5 stars Terrible Disappointment   February 6, 2010

I will preface this review by saying that I don't know much about TVs. I purchased this model because I have had great experience with Sharp Aquos in the past.

The picture is WAY. TOO. DARK. Adjusting the contrast and brightness blew out the color and everything looked over-exposed. There was no setting at which the brightness looked good; it was either washed out or too dark. The problem is that we did not have the option to adjust the blacklight for some reason. The set also attracted dust in a way I have never seen before. The glossy coating is rather cheap and "lumpy" looking - there are imperfections that cause light to reflect in a warped manner. It just looked cheap and poorly constructed.

We returned the set and ordered the Samsung 32" 720p Samsung LN32B360 32-Inch 720p LCD HDTV and it is PERFECT.

3 out of 5 stars Received defective product   January 28, 2010

Ordered this TV and received within the promised timeframe. Upon hooking it up, noticed that there was a bright red "crack" from the top edge of the LCD screen going about 2/3rds of the way down. It seemed like the screen was broken, but upon closer inspection it is probably the "crystal" in the LCD that has cracked. The crack looks just like one on a car windshield, except that it glows red when the TV is turned on. Especially noticable when subject matter is darker.

Have requested for a replacement since I think the TV is still a good buy based on reviews on other web sites. Will post update once the replacement is received.

UPDATE: Amazon's replacement service is excellent. Received replacement TV within 3 days and it is easy to send back the defective item. Have hooked the new TV up and it works great. Here are the pros & cons.
PROS: Good bedroom TV. Sound is ok, but would not be adequate in larger (living) room. Picture is very good and but had to make some adjustments to bring it to our liking.
CONS: Clumsy remote and very very small font on text that displays when you press MENU (to adjust settings etc.) I have to sit at 6 feet or less to work through the menu items.

Overall, a good buy for the money and a great 2nd TV.

5 out of 5 stars One of the Very Best   December 2, 2009

I have had this TV for a bit over a month now. I have no complaints whatsoever. The picture is fantastic, clear and vivid. The color is true and the picture adjustments seem limitless. Set up was a snap. All my devices work flawlessly -dvd, vcr, computer, Roku etc. I love this TV. It really is next generation and at the price represents the best value for me. I looked at many, many HDTV offerings before selecting the Aquos. I am very glad I did. It's better than most costing hundreds more. The only negative I can find is the sound quality. It is a little weak but no more than others in this size. It is a very small gripe because I run the sound through a set of compact computer speakers with a sub and it sounds great.
